Lau Family Hung Kuen

Lau Jaam was famous for his Hung Kuen in HK and southern China. He was a student of Lam Sai Wing and known for being a very active fighter. His sons became very famous in the film world and also the adopted son - Lau Kar Fei "aka" Gordon Liu. In modern times, it's hard to survive as a kung fu master so it was a blessing that the Lau Family had the opportunity to work in the film industry. Even better, they could use their kung fu and bring it on the big screen so Hung Kuen got a lot of exposure to the whole world. For decades. the Lau Family would be involved in many kung fu movie productions. It's partly the reason why the Hung Kuen of the Lau Family differs from other families.

Teaching many actors made Lau Kar Leung realise to simplify things and adopt modern times. Lau Sigung emphasizes on thinking out of the box. With the help of Sifu Mark Ho,the Lau Family started to teach openly and in the meanwhile Sifu Ho produced a number of good Hung Kuen Sifus.

Inspired by the movies of his Sifu, he built a school outside of Hongkong near the Chinese boarder which resembles the chambers of Shaolin temple. It has the wooden dummies, the hanging logs, the iron palm chamber, etc.

Nowadays, there are Lau Family branches in English, the Philippines and China. Students from all over the world come to HK to train under Sifu Ho. Some underestimated the training because once you train in those chambers, you realize that kung fu also means pain. The goal is to spread the fine art of Lau Family Hung Kuen throughout the world.
